Designed by Hopkins Architects and VMDO, the 61,000-sf facility offers collaborative environments for teaching, research, and discovery. Four adaptive classrooms equipped with integrated learning technologies will support a pedagogy based on experiential education.

Wexford Science + Technology and UC Davis Build Aggie Square

Wexford Science + Technology is constructing the $1.2 billion Aggie Square on the Sacramento campus of the University of California, Davis. Designed by ZGF Architects, the innovation district is being developed in association with GMH Capital Partners. The 8.25-acre site will feature an expansive plaza framed by three glass-clad structures providing between 230,000 sf and 310,000 sf each.

Siemens Opens Technology Center Garching

Siemens AG opened an innovation complex in April of 2024 that will consolidate its corporate research activities in Germany. The 140,000-sf facility was created in partnership with Technical University of Munich and is strategically sited in the institution’s science park. Siemens Technology Center Garching supports 450 engineers working in collaboration with 150 academic investigators to advance industrial artificial intelligence and data analytics. State-of-the-art labs are complemented by modern workspaces, conference rooms, and training areas.

The $150 million facility will enhance the R&D capabilities of the adjacent National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL) while driving the creation of a skilled workforce. Serving as a living laboratory for the formulation of best practices, the 70,000-sf building is envisioned as a place to scale up and mature new production methods.

The 105,000-sf facility features 34 modular laboratories for research programs in molecular nanoscience, quantum chemistry, advanced materials, energy storage, and drug discovery and delivery. Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies Constructs Holly Springs Campus

FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies is constructing a $3.2 billion pharmaceutical campus in Holly Springs, N.C. Integrating sophisticated automation technologies, the multi-building development will enable large-scale cell culture manufacturing for the creation of bulk drug substances. Ground was broken in October of 2021 on the first phase, a $2 billion production center slated for completion in early 2025. A subsequent investment of $1.2 billion will establish an additional 425,000-sf plant that will begin operations in 2028.
