Baylor College of Medicine Constructs Pasadena Pediatric Clinic
Baylor College of Medicine will open a 10,000-sf pediatric clinic in June of 2011 in Pasadena, Texas. Located in the Harris County Hospital District, the facility will house 20 exam rooms and will provide care for up to 25,000 children each year.
Novartis Plans Vaccine Research Laboratory
Novartis is planning to build a $36 million vaccine research laboratory in Holly Springs, N.C. The facility will include a manufacturing suite for producing experimental vaccines. The lab will be sited on 167 acres and will house approximately 100 employees.
FirstHealth Opens Cardiac and Vascular Institute
FirstHealth celebrated the opening of the Reid Heart Center Cardiac and Vascular Institute in December of 2010. The 186,000-sf facility is located on the Moore Regional Hospital campus in Pinehurst, N.C. The center features 30 critical care beds, 27 cardiology/telemetry beds, six surgical suites, five cardiac catheterization labs, and two electrophysiology suites. The facility was designed by HKS of Richmond, Va., and built by Brasfield and Gorrie of Raleigh, N.C.
Providence Regional Medical Center Everett Nears Completion
The $500 million Providence Regional Medical Center Everett will open in 2011. Built as twin towers, the 12-story, 700,000-sf hospital will support patient and family centered care with 368 beds, an expanded emergency department, and a digital imaging center. General contractor M.A. Mortenson Co. broke ground on the facility in October of 2008.
BD Attains LEED Silver for Diagnostics Facility
Medical technology company BD was awarded LEED Silver sustainable design certification in December of 2010 for the $14 million BD Diagnostics – Women’s Health and Cancer facility. Located in Mebane, N.C., the 101,000-sf building features advanced lighting and HVAC systems and low emission interior finishes. The facility opened in May of 2010 and is expected to use 25 percent less energy than a comparable conventional structure.
