LHP Partners with Seton on Harker Heights Medical Center

LHP Hospital Group is partnering with the Seton Family of Hospitals to build the $100 million Seton Medical Center Harker Heights in Bell County, Texas. Groundbreaking is expected in early 2011 with completion slated for late 2012. The 180,400-sf, 83-bed hospital will provide emergency care, women’s services, obstetrics, cardiology, surgery, oncology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, imaging and diagnostic services, and intensive and critical care. A 60,000-sf medical office building will also be built at the site.

Architectural Firm Billings Rose in November 2010

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) reported that revenue at U.S. architecture firms increased in November of 2010, only the second monthly increase in billings since early 2008. At 52.0, the AIA’s Architecture Billings Index (ABI) recorded a three point gain from the previous month, and reached its strongest level since December 2007. With ABI scores above the 50 level in two of the past three months, the prospects of a sustainable recovery in design activity are enhanced.

Oregon University System Plans Life Sciences Collaborative Complex

The Oregon University System plans to begin building the $170 million Life Sciences Collaborative Complex in mid-2011. The facility will be located on Oregon Health & Science University's Schnitzer Campus along the Willamette River in Portland. Design-build services for the project will be provided by J.E. Dunn Construction of Kansas City, Mo. Housing collaborative teaching and research facilities, the complex will promote the development of industry partnerships with bioscience, medical device, and pharmaceutical companies.

Kelowna General Hospital Builds Clinical Support Building

Kelowna General Hospital selected Graham Design-Build Services in December of 2010 to build the $47 million East Pandosy Clinical Support Building in Kelowna, British Columbia. Housing laboratories and clinical support space, the three-story facility will be connected to the adjacent hospital by an enclosed bridge. Construction will begin in early 2011 with completion expected in 2012.
