The Domain High Tech Complex Planned for Austin
The Domain, a 235-acre high tech complex, is being developed by Austin-based Endeavor Real Estate Group LLC at IBM's original campus in North Austin. The mixed-use project will accommodate 700,000 sf of office, manufacturing, and distribution space equipped with a high-speed fiber network. An on-site central utility plant will provide discounted electrical power. Facilities for child care, fitness, and recreation are also planned.
US Fish & Wildlife Plans New Center
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposes to build a new $7,637,101 visitor's center and administrative headquarters for the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on a 12.3-acre site owned by the Service. A garage, carpenter shop, and storage area are included along with the visitor's center and headquarters.
Booz-Allen & Hamilton Plans McLean Headquarters
Booz-Allen & Hamilton has plans for a new $35.7 million, 122,000-sf headquarters office in McLean. The six-story structure, dubbed EJ Randolph II, is being developed by Equity Office Properties Trust; the firm will also own and manage the facility. Construction began in March 2001, with completion anticipated in spring 2002. The construction manager is Trammel Crow. The building was designed by Kishimoto.Gordon, and will accommodate approximately 500 employees.
Prentiss Builds "Green" Corporate Center
The two-building First Avenue Corporate Center is being developed by Dallas-based Prentiss Properties to include many "green" features. Each 103,000-sf building will have sun-deflecting, energy-efficient glass; an air-conditioning system that brings fresh air into the facility as carbon dioxide levels rise, as well as "flushing" the building each night with fresh air. Recycled steel will be used in construction, and carpets and wallpaper will be made from recycled materials. Construction has already begun on the first building.
Center for Health Statistics Plans Hyattsville Facility
The U.S. General Services Administration's National Center for Health Statistics will have a new headquarters at Metro IV, a 200,000-sf office facility to be built at the proposed University Town Center, a mixed-use complex at Prince George's Metro Center. Weihe Design Group PLLC (WDG) has been selected to design the building. Blue Chair Design, WDG's interiors division, will provide interior design services. Construction is scheduled to begin summer 2001.
