Medarex Opens Greenwich Research Center
Medarex Inc., based in Princeton, Pa., has opened a new center for antibody development in Greenwich. The center features labs for research and development, a pilot plant, and facilities for future manufactuiring. Several phases of expansion are planned over the next two years, with construction completed in late 2002. At build-out, the facility will accommodate 200 employees. The expansion will support the company's R&D in the field of cancer and arthritis treatments, as well as provide for future large-scale manufacturing of monoclonal antibodies.
Sybase Completes New Dublin Headquarters
Sybase Inc., currently based in Emeryville, Calif., completed construction in May at its new corporate headquarters in Dublin. The 500,000-sf structure will accommodate 1,200 to 1,400 employees by the end of 2001. DPR Construction Inc. is the contractor.
Cisco Systems Pursues New Dublin Campus
Cisco Systems, based in San Jose, Calif., is preparing to go through the design review process for its planned five-building high-tech campus in Dublin. Economic factors, which had caused the company to reassess its plans in March, apparently will not halt the project. Opus West Corp. is the builder for 220,000 sf in two of the structures, the first of which is scheduled for completion in September 001, the second in early 2002.
Trellis Photonics Plans Manufacturing Facility
Trellis Photonics, based in Israel, has plans for a 60,000-sf manufacturing facility at the Columbia Gateway Business Park. The $18 million building will accommodate the fiber-optics firm's research, administration, and manufacturing operations. The company's $25 million, five-year growth plan includes a staff increase from the present 150 employees to 350.
New Telecom Center Opens in Atlanta
The Atlanta Telecom Center, a multimillion-dollar project of Montreal-based Yale GSG Lee Real Estate Ltd., has opened in Atlanta's West End. Yale Provided site selection, financing, design, and engineering to convert the former Alterman Foods Inc. warehouse to a telecom hotel. Upgrades include a new roof, multiple fiber entrances to the structure, and distribution throughout the building of that fiber. Nearby fiber-optic trunk lines have attracted telecommunications companies to the area.
