William Beaumont Hospital Builds Michigan Facilities

William Beaumont Hospital began building the $200 million North Pavilion in Royal Oak, Mich., in fall of 2008. Construction will reach completion in 2010 with occupancy expected by 2011. The five-story facility will include a 360,000-sf emergency center, a 36-bed ICU, operating rooms, and support. Beaumont Hospital began construction in June of 2007 on a 558,000-sf multi-phased project in Troy, Mich.

Florida State University Open Psychology Building

Florida State University celebrated the opening of its $56 million psychology building in October of 2008. Designed by Flad Architects and Elliott, Marshall and Innis, the project is comprised of three wings housing 49 research labs, 54 administrative and faculty offices, six technology-rich classrooms, a 220-seat auditorium, and conference rooms. The general contractor was Culpepper Construction Company.

Binghamton University Builds Science and Technology Facilities

SUNY Binghamton University began construction on the $66 million Engineering and Science Facility in October of 2008. Located in Binghamton, N.Y., the 125,000-sf building will house flexible laboratories, offices, and incubator space. The two-story project represents an expansion of the Innovative Technologies Complex and will house the departments of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer engineering. Completion is expected in 2011.

Marshfield Clinic Dedicates Laird Research Center

The Marshfield Clinic dedicated the $40 million Laird Center for Medical Research in October of 2008 in Wausau, Wis. The 118,000-sf facility houses research and clinical laboratories for human genetics, emerging infectious diseases, and biomedical informatics. Designed to support translational research, the project broke ground in 2006 and represents an expansion of the existing Laird Center on the Marshfield Clinic campus.
