SAFC Pharma Breaks Ground on Verona Manufacturing Facility
SAFC Pharma broke ground in October of 2008 on a 45,000-sf manufacturing facility for active pharmaceutical ingredients in Verona, Wis. Sited in the Verona Technology Park, the expansion will accommodate 50 additional employees. The $30 million facility will include isolator boxes for chemical compound handling. Completion is expected in late 2009 with production commencing in early 2010. The project contractor is Vogel Bros. Construction. SAFC Pharma is headquartered in the University Research Park in Madison and is a subsidiary of St.
St. Cloud State University Plans ISELF Project
St. Cloud State University has selected Rafferty Rafferty Tollefson Lindeke Architects (RRTL) to design the $42 million Integrated Science and Engineering Laboratory Facility (ISELF) in St. Cloud, Minn. Schematic design for the approximately 100,000-sf research and teaching building will reach completion in December of 2008. The facility will accommodate instruction in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. RFD (Research Facilities Design) is providing laboratory design consultation for the project to RRTL.
Cubist Pharmaceuticals Opens Lexington Research Facility
Cubist Pharmaceuticals opened its new 35,000-sf research facility in late September of 2008. Located at Cubist’s headquarters in Lexington, Mass., the laboratory building will support research and development of molecular disease treatments. The sustainably-designed project includes 50 additional fume hoods, NMR instrumentation, and 3D molecular modeling.
Colorado State University Breaks Ground on Rockwell Hall Expansion
Colorado State University broke ground on a $17.5 million expansion of Rockwell Hall in Fort Collins on October 2, 2008. Housing 40,500 sf for the College of Business, the project will feature nine technology-rich classrooms, a financial data laboratory, a 112-seat auditorium, and a student forum. Completion is expected in January of 2010.
Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies Completes Florida Headquarters
Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies (TPIMS) completed its $40 million, 103,000-sf headquarters in Port St. Lucie, Fla., in September of 2008. Built by Suffolk Construction in the Florida Center for Innovation, the project began construction in February of 2008 and was completed three months ahead of schedule. The LEED-certified facility is comprised of office space and seven biomedical research laboratories. The project developer was Port St. Lucie-based Core Communities. Occupancy is slated for November of 2008.
