Cleveland Clinic Builds Neurological Institute

Cleveland Clinic is constructing the $1.1 billion Neurological Institute in Cleveland, Ohio. The 1.2 million-sf translational research facility will consolidate 15 separate centers to catalyze interdisciplinary synergies and improve patient outcomes. Spanning fourteen stories, the state-of-the-art hospital will offer a comprehensive array of services such as neuro-simulation training, infusion therapy, neurodiagnostics, brain mapping suites, imaging, and digitized patient evaluations. Dedicated research labs will investigate novel therapies for neurological conditions, and 40 advanced therapeutic spaces will offer collaborative assessment and treatment. On the lower floors, outpatient facilities will include over 500 exam, treatment, and flexible consultation rooms, combined with a suite of 18 operating theaters. The upper floors comprise an inpatient tower with 218 private beds for a range of acuity levels, including 45 ICU beds. 

Designed by Stantec and Hopkins Architects, the world-class center will leverage advanced technology to better meet the needs of patients with neurological diseases. As well as offering IMRIS suites, MEG scanners, and remote healthcare, wearable sensors and digital assessment stations will provide data for personalized interventions. Prioritizing space for future growth, a flexible and modular layout will incorporate dual-purpose exam rooms with sections that can be enclosed as offices or opened for collaboration. Natural light and intuitive wayfinding will optimize the patient experience.

Turner Construction Company broke ground on the Neurological Institute in mid-2022. Donley’s is providing integrated project delivery and concrete services. Completion is expected in December of 2026.
