The U.S. Department of Agriculture broke ground in May of 2024 on the $160 million National Center for Resilient and Regenerative Precision Agriculture (NCRRPA). Created in partnership with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, the transformative development will enable the Agricultural Research Service to explore new solutions for sustainable crop production, water management, and animal husbandry. The first phase will provide 15,000 sf of greenhouse space and 10,000 sf of headhouse space that will physically connect to the existing Greenhouse Innovation Center. In the future, a four-story, 120,000-sf facility will be built to provide open lab environments for wet and dry research. This highly flexible structure will also include specialized suites for biocontainment, plant transgenics, tissue culture, and microscopy, as well as offices, mechanical equipment rooms, and storage areas.

Designed by HDR, the NCRRPA is strategically sited on the Nebraska Innovation Campus. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is overseeing the planning and delivery of the project.
