Pennsylvania State University opened the $98.5 million Animal, Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences Building in December of 2021 in University Park. Designed by HOK, the 105,000-sf facility provides the College of Agricultural Sciences with a state-of-the-art vivarium, a general-purpose classroom capable of accommodating 100 students, a 48-seat seminar room, and faculty offices. Housing dedicated research space for the Department of Animal Science and the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, the structure also includes shared collaboration zones with flexible lab venues to maximize efficiencies and enhance interaction. A glass-enclosed connector to the adjacent Agricultural Sciences and Industries Building offers open conference areas and inviting study lounges. The sustainably designed facility features a green roof and is expected to attain LEED Silver certification. Turner Construction implemented Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the delivery of the project, which broke ground in summer of 2020.
