Radford University opened the Artis College of Science and Technology in February of 2020 in Radford, Va. Designed and engineered by CannonDesign, the $34 million project included a complete renovation of Reed Hall and Curie Hall, as well as construction of the connecting Center for the Sciences, a two-story collaboration hub offering meeting rooms, a commons area, study spaces, and offices. Providing leading-edge teaching and research facilities for biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, geology, and geospatial sciences, the completed 94,480-sf structure houses the Artis Cybersecurity Training and Education Lab, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Center, the Geology Maker Lab, the Tree Ring Lab, a scanning tunnel microscopy suite, and sophisticated greenhouses. Branch & Associates was the general contractor for the project, which began construction in 2017. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the complex.
