The Pennsylvania State University is planning a $44.5 million renovation and expansion of the Agricultural Engineering Building in University Park. Providing multidisciplinary laboratories and classrooms, the project will add 35,000 sf to the existing 64,533-sf (44,581-asf) structure. The building houses the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, a department jointly administered by the College of Agricultural Sciences and the College of Engineering. The completed 93,522-sf project will provide 55,974 asf of open-concept teaching and research space in a sustainably designed facility with abundant natural light, efficient building systems, and a green roof.
Designed by EYP Architecture & Engineering, the project will feature over 30 research and teaching labs, five multipurpose classrooms, and several conference rooms and collaboration lounges. General contractor DPR Construction will begin work on the renovation and expansion by early fall of 2016 and completion is expected in December of 2017. Integrated Project Delivery will be implemented in the design and construction of the LEED-certified facility.
