Stonehill College Breaks Ground on Meehan School of Business

Stonehill College broke ground in May of 2018 on the $30 million Leo J. Meehan School of Business in Easton, Mass. Designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative, the technology-rich facility will feature adaptive classrooms, collaboration spaces, simulated trading rooms, and advanced business innovation studios with maker spaces. The 65,000-sf project, which is being constructed by BOND, will also include Bloomberg rooms offering training and access to the company's interactive financial information network. Completion is expected in fall of 2019.

Deaconess Health System Opens Orthopedic and Neuroscience Hospital

Deaconess Health System opened the $135 million Orthopedic and Neuroscience Hospital in May of 2018 in Newburgh, Ind. Designed by Hafer Architects, the six-story facility features a multidisciplinary ortho-neuro surgical clinic and an urgent orthopedic care center. Located at Gateway Hospital, the facility links two existing towers via an atrium and features patient rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass. The general contractor for the project was Barton Malow.

AstraZeneca Opens South San Francisco Facility

AstraZeneca opened its 163,000-sf South San Francisco facility in May of 2018. Located in the Cove at Oyster Point, the project houses a total of 400 employees from four organizations: Acerta Pharma, MedImmune, Pearl Therapeutics, and Technology Innovation & Delivery Excellence (TIDE). Designed by HOK to promote collaboration and innovation, the open lab and office environments incorporate AstraZeneca’s iWork philosophy, an activity-based approach that embraces industry best practices.

North Carolina State University Breaks Ground on Fitts-Woolard Engineering Building

North Carolina State University broke ground in April of 2018 on the $150 million Fitts-Woolard Hall in Raleigh. Accommodating the Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering, the 250,000-sf project will provide leading-edge laboratories and classrooms, as well as administrative space for the office of the dean.

Kewaunee Scientific and Rainlight Launch CODA Modular Lab Bench System

Kewaunee Scientific has partnered with international design studio Rainlight to create the CODA laboratory furniture benching system. CODA’s modular design offers adjustable height surfaces, moveable shelving, and integrated lighting, with companion tables available to complement the main system. With spans of up to 10 feet long between structural supports, CODA’s bench enables greater flexibility for lab layout.
