CSU Stanislaus Builds Education Services Gateway Building
California State University Stanislaus’ new 130,000-sf Mary Stuart Rogers Education Services Gateway Building began construction in January 2000. The $17.8-million, three-story facility will be a one-stop facility for student services, centralizing admissions, records, academic advising and counseling; offices for the new president, provost, and other school administrators will also be housed in the new building. Completion is anticipated in fall 2001. General contractor on the project is McCarthy of Sacramento, Calif.
Strategic Partnership Between Tompkins Assoc. and MARC Systems
Tompkins Associates and MARC Systems have entered into a strategic alliance to offer seamless supply chain solutions to the pharmaceutical and health care industries. Through the joint efforts of the respective sales and marketing teams, Tompkins and MARC Systems will enable clients to integrate supply chain execution software with operations best practices. With its extensive functionality and strict inventory control, the MARC product suite is utilized by major pharmaceutical companies to distribute some of the most carefully controlled substances in use.
Sybase Considers Dublin Site
Sybase Inc., based in Emeryville, Calif., is considering the construction of a new corporate campus in Dublin for its 1,200 local employees. Two six-story buildings with a total of 420,000 sf would be built by Wilcox Development Services of Dallas on a 14.5-acre site at the Emerald Glen development. If approval from the city of Dublin is secured, construction could begin by the end of 2000. Estimates put the price tag at $50 to $60 million, excluding land costs.
Aetna Builds Regional HQ in Landover
Aetna U.S. Healthcare, based in Hartford, Conn., is building a $36 million, 180,000-sf regional headquarters in Landover to house 880 employees it will relocate from its Linthicum and Falls Church offices. The Capitol region's customer service functions and medical management will be accommodated in the new facility which is scheduled for completion in summer 2000.

Summit Technologies plans to start construction in August 2000 on a $3 million, 97,000-sf service center complex in North Austin. Coordinator for the three-building project is Development 2000. Summit Technologies produces ophthalmic laser systems.
