Crittenton Hospital Medical Center Plans Expansion and Renovation
Crittenton Hospital Medical Center is planning an $86-million expansion and renovation of its Rochester Hills hospital. Albert Kahn Associates is providing full architectural and engineering services for the 140,000-sf multi-phase project. The new facility will include a women and children's center, expanded inpatient and outpatient surgery centers, radiology and emergency departments, OB/GYN and orthopedic areas, a chest pain clinic, adult and pediatric urgent care areas, an education center and a gift shop.
DaimlerChrysler Manufacturing Facility Operational
DaimlerChrysler's new 543,000-sf state-of-the-art manufacturing facility began production in July 2002. The engine plant is located on a brownfield construction site adjacent to the existing Kenosha Engine Plant in Kenosha, Wisc. The new plant is attached to the existing plant via a connector link that centralizes the shipping docks of both facilities and serves as a common utility route between both facilities and the new compressor building.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Builds Center for Biotechnology & Interdisciplinary Studies
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has selected McCarthy to construct its new $70-million Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies in Troy, N.Y. Upon completion in 2004, the 218,000-sf building will house 60 faculty and more than 300 researchers and graduate students dedicated to researching the application of engineering and the physical and information sciences to the life sciences. Focus areas will include functional tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, integrated systems biology, bioinformatics, biocatalysis and metabolic engineering.
Neose Completes Manufacturing Plant
Neose Technologies has completed its new $17-million manufacturing plant at its Horsham, Pa., headquarters. Design of the plant, including redesign of Neose's existing plant and the addition of 5,000 sf, began in February 2001. The facility now contains 20,000 sf of processing and 3,500 sf of utility space.
Harvard University Develops Molecular Target Laboratory
Harvard University will develop the Molecular Target Laboratory with a $40-million grant from the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health. The laboratory will use high throughput assays to identify disease-causing proteins and discover compounds to block them.
