Merrimack Valley Hospital Completes Renovation
Merrimack Valley Hospital is nearing completion of a $4.5-million renovation of its Haverhill, Mass., hospital. The project added a 12-bed adult geriatric psychiatry unit, an MRI suite, an outpatient service area, an oncology/cancer center, mammography and ultrasound diagnostics areas, and a small emergency department expansion with new entrances. Merrimack Valley Hospital is part of Essent Healthcare of Nashville, Tenn.
Phillips Academy Andover Completes Gelb Science Center
Phillips Academy Andover has completed construction of the 58,000-sf Richard L. Gelb Science Center at its Andover, Mass., campus. Designed by Kallman, McKinnell & Wood Architects, the three-story facility houses 20 laboratories equipped with networked audiovisual systems and a conference room. Erland Construction was the project contractor.
Lockheed Reoccupies Valley Forge Offices
Lockheed Martin will reoccupy a 136,000-sf building in Valley Forge, Pa., that the defense contractor vacated in 2002. The three-story office and laboratory facility will accommodate 300 employees engaged in the development of complex military, defense, and intelligence systems including surveillance, reconnaissance, combat support, and national security assistance.
Los Angeles Harbor College Develops New Facilities
Los Angeles Harbor College is planning two new campus structures: the 39,000-sf Student Services Building and the 68,000-sf Northeast Academic Building. The facilities will be sited on the college’s Wilmington, Calif., campus and will be constructed to meet LEED Silver certification. The $8.5-million Student Services Building, scheduled for completion in summer 2005, will consolidate available campus services and administration offices into a one-stop center.
Lafayette Library Develops Glenn Seaborg Learning Consortium
The city of Lafayette, Calif., is planning to construct the Glenn Seaborg Learning Consortium at the new Lafayette Library and Learning Center. Created by twelve Bay Area educational and cultural institutions, the project is comprised of a 25,000-sf library and an attached 1,700-sf community room. Slated to open in 2006, the project is the first of its kind in the nation in size and scope. The collaborating groups are the Lawrence Hall of Science, Chabot Space & Science Center, Oakland Museum of California, Commonwealth Club of California, John Muir/Mt.
