Kaiser Permanente Plans Fontana Replacement Hospital
Kaiser Permanente will build a 482,078-sf replacement hospital in Fontana, Calif. The seven-story, 314-bed facility will meet seismic safety standards set for the year 2030. The new sustainably-designed Fontana Medical Center Hospital will include a 51-bed emergency department and a cardiac center. A 32,100-sf central utility plant and the 55,774-sf Hospital Support Building, housing pharmacy, radiology, and ancillary services, will also be constructed at the site.
Silver Cross Builds New Lenox Hospital
Silver Cross Hospital broke ground in summer of 2008 on a $398 million hospital in New Lenox, Ill. The 554,000-sf hospital is slated for completion by early 2012. The 289-bed facility will feature 11 surgical suites and new MRI and CT scan equipment.
Brown University Plans Nelson Fitness Center
Brown University has selected the project team of Robert A.M. Stern Architects and Shawmut Design and Construction to design and build the Nelson Fitness Center and University Swim Center in Providence, R.I. The 85,000-sf facility will feature an Olympic swimming pool, a three-court gymnasium, fitness studios, and a new quadrangle and atrium. The project will break ground in March of 2009 with completion expected in fall of 2010.
Loma Linda University Medical Center Develops Murrieta Hospital
Loma Linda University Medical Center will partner with Physicians Hospital of Murrieta and developer Surgical Development Partners of Nashville to build a $300 million hospital in Murrieta, Calif. The 106-bed facility and two 120,000-sf medical office buildings will be physician owned. Construction is expected to begin in November of 2008 with completion by January of 2011. The hospital will accommodate general, acute care, and specialty services including obstetrics, pediatrics, cardiovascular, and emergency.
University of Minnesota-Duluth Breaks Ground on Civil Engineering Building
The University of Minnesota-Duluth broke ground on the $15 million Civil Engineering Building in July of 2008. The 34,000-sf building will house laboratories and instructional facilities and is slated for occupancy in 2010.
