Vernon Jubilee Hospital Constructs Patient Care Tower
Vernon Jubilee Hospital will begin building a $178 million patient care tower in February of 2009. The seven-story, 181,500-sf project is slated for completion in May of 2011. The facility will provide inpatient beds, surgical suites, ICU, and a birthing center. A 135,000-sf diagnostic and treatment building will also be built at the site.
Loma Linda University Opens Heart & Surgical Hospital
Loma Linda University opened the $110 million Heart & Surgical Hospital in Redlands, Calif., in January of 2009. The two-story, 66,000-sf facility houses 20 private beds for a total of 28 beds. Integrating the specialties of vascular medicine, cardiology, and radiology, the Heart & Surgical Hospital features six operating rooms, two catheterization labs, two procedure rooms, and advanced surgical robots. Sustainable design features of the facility include use of natural light, LED light fixtures, and reduced water consumption.
The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research Expands in Manhasset
The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research completed a $50 million expansion of its headquarters in Manhasset, N.Y., in January of 2009. The project is comprised of a 56,250-sf wing supporting translational research.
Texas A&M Opens Soltis Center in Costa Rica
Texas A&M University opened the Soltis Center for Research and Education in San Isidro, Costa Rica in early 2009. Sited on 40 acres adjacent to 250 acres of rainforest, the facility provides classrooms, dormitories, and support spaces for environmental science teaching and research. The Soltis Center will officially be dedicated in June of 2009.
Temple University Opens Fox School of Business
Temple University’s Fox School of Business opened the $80 million Alter Hall in Philadelphia in January of 2009. The seven-story, 217,000-sf facility features Mediasite lecture capture technologies to support multimedia webcasting. Designed by architect Michael Graves, Alter Hall houses 30 technology-rich classrooms and tiered case study rooms.
