Siemens Mobility will begin construction in early 2025 on a £100 million innovation center for rail infrastructure in Chippenham, U.K. Designed by Arup and AHR, the digitally enabled complex will provide world-class R&D labs for the creation of novel transit solutions. Integrated research, testing, and factory environments will accelerate the production of the next generation of signaling and control systems for the United Kingdom. With open office areas that support hybrid working, the 210,000-sf facility will also provide a range of meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, and warehouse areas.
This beacon of manufacturing excellence will leverage advanced technologies to achieve superior energy performance. Replacing Siemens' existing plant in the SouthPoint Business Park, the development will increase net biodiversity on the site by over 10 percent and is targeting BREEAM Excellent certification. The general contractor is Bowmer + Kirkland, a firm known for their expertise in sustainable construction methodologies. Approximately 800 employees will relocate to the complex when it opens in early 2026.
