University of Tennessee Expands Haslam College of Business

Published 9/23/2024

The University of Tennessee broke ground in September of 2024 on an expansion of the Haslam College of Business in Knoxville. Designed by McCarty Holsaple McCarty and RAMSA to accommodate record enrollment, the 243,800-sf building will provide 18 classrooms, three research labs, and two 300-seat auditoria. The collaborative facility will serve more than 10,000 students, faculty, staff, and guests weekly.

Offering inviting meeting rooms, common areas, and a food service venue, the five-story structure will house the Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research, the Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the college’s seven academic departments, and its graduate and executive education programs. Blaine Construction is the general contractor for the sustainable development, which is slated for completion in fall of 2027.

The University of Tennessee is spending over $52 billion on new academic buildings system-wide to meet its enrollment goal of between 59,000 and 71,000 students by 2030. The new facility for the Haslam College of Business is one of the first projects in this initiative to break ground.
