The Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research broke ground in February of 2024 on the AU$55 million Lang AO Medical Research Building - MacArthur. Located next to Campbelltown Hospital, the 63,000-sf project will provide state-of-the-art laboratories for the study of diabetes, pediatrics, addiction, mental illness, and indigenous health, and pediatrics. BVN Architecture’s vision for the translational facility interweaves collaboration spaces and instrumentation suites with flexible, open settings for shared discovery. Enhancing community access to clinical trials, the five-story structure will foster industry engagement to accelerate the commercialization of new treatments, therapies, and diagnostic tools.
Supported by a substantial donation from Walker Corporation, a property development company, the project is being created in partnership with Western Sydney University, South Western Sydney Local Health District, and UNSW Sydney. Richard Crookes Constructions is the general contractor for the sustainably designed facility, which is slated to to achieve 5 Star certification from the Green Building Council of Australia. Occupancy is anticipated in 2025.
