Providence Health Care is planning to construct the CAD$638 million Clinical Support and Research Centre in Vancouver. Designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects and Kirsten Reite Architecture, the 370,000-sf facility will collocate world-class research labs with specialty physician practices to accelerate the translation of medical discoveries into solutions for patient care. Collaboration spaces will be intentionally woven throughout the building to promote interdisciplinary exchange between researchers, clinicians, and industry partners.
Providing offices for administrative staff, a childcare center, and below-grade parking, the 12-story structure will be linked by a two-story sky bridge to the new St Paul's Hospital. An innovation hub with 3D bioprinting capabilities will support a variety of prototyping, commercialization, and training activities. The sustainably designed project is targeting LEED Gold certification and will feature interior wood finishes for enhanced occupant wellbeing.
Delivered by PCL Construction, the transformative development will act as a campus gateway with a large civic plaza and numerous outdoor terraces. Groundbreaking is expected in 2025 with completion anticipated in 2028.
