Colorado School of Mines opened the $19.4 million Labriola Innovation Hub in February of 2024 in Golden, Colo. Designed by OZ Architecture, the 37,260-sf building features collaborative project studios and maker spaces where faculty, students, alumni, and industry partners can discover new solutions for critical societal problems. This campus-wide resource for invention supports both physical and computational approaches to ideation, prototyping, and testing.

Accommodating flexible classrooms and conference rooms, the transdisciplinary facility includes a software maker space, an engine lab, a 2D/3D printing suite, and shops for working with wood, metal, electronics, and composites. Extensive glazing showcases the inspiring activities occurring within to the entire Mines community. The main lobby offers a café and a range of seating areas for informal interaction.

Saunders Construction began work in January of 2022 on the sustainably designed structure, which is expected to achieve LEED Gold certification. Cator Ruma provided engineering services and Weifield Group was the electrical contractor for the project.
