The University of California, Riverside opened its new School of Business in September of 2024 to equip the next generation of corporate leaders and entrepreneurs with vital competencies. Created by the design-build team of Moore Ruble Yudell Architects & Planners and McCarthy Building Companies, the $87 million facility centralizes academic activities currently dispersed across campus while accommodating significant programmatic growth.
The four-story structure features interactive learning environments, including two 80-seat classrooms, an executive conference suite, group meeting rooms, and a 350-seat auditorium. Offering 38,500 assignable square feet, the 63,400-gsf structure accommodates 20 faculty offices, 59 administrative offices, a computer lab, and a recording studio for the creation of podcasts and videos. Sophisticated technologies for the capture and transmission of multimedia lectures support the delivery of hybrid pedagogies that blend in-person and remote instruction. A café adjoins a 2,278-sf multipurpose room with comfortable seating to enhance student engagement.
Anchoring a new campus precinct, the sustainable development is aiming for LEED Platinum certification and incorporates a 216-kilowatt solar canopy. AEI provided MEP engineering services and Coffman Engineers acted as structural engineer. Construction began on the project in April of 2023.
