Purdue University is planning to construct the $160 million Nursing and Pharmacy Education Building in West Lafayette, Ind. Fostering interprofessional collaboration and discovery, the 186,000-sf facility will strategically collocate the College of Health and Human Services with the College of Pharmacy. The four-story structure will mirror modern healthcare settings with clinical simulation labs, a pharmacy practice lab, and a nuclear pharmacy lab. Large instructional venues for active learning will be complemented by a shared immersive environment with virtual and augmented reality technologies. Housing research labs, administrative offices, study areas, and a café, the transformative development will also include centrally scheduled classrooms that can serve the entire campus. A monumental staircase with integrated seating ledges will enhance occupant activity while promoting informal interaction and exchange. The basement level will accommodate a mechanical room, additional research labs, and approximately 35,000 sf of animal holding space.
Construction is slated to begin in September of 2024 on the sustainably designed project, which is targeting WELL certification. Occupancy is expected in October of 2026.
