HYM Investment Group began construction in March of 2022 on a $280 million biomanufacturing hub in Revere, Mass. Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, the six-story life sciences facility will offer leasable research environments for biomedical and pharmaceutical companies. Complemented by retail and dining amenities, the structure will feature two double-height floors for GMP production and manufacturing activities. Three upper stories will accommodate R&D labs supported by advanced mechanical and electrical infrastructure on the rooftop level. Completion is expected in late 2023 with tenant occupancy commencing in mid-2024. A second phase of construction will deliver approximately 220,000 sf of additional lab space.
With strategic access to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's Beachmont station, the project is part of a major redevelopment of the former Suffolk Downs racetrack spanning Boston and Revere. Integrating a resilient design to mitigate risk from rising sea levels, the mixed-use district will include a mass timber accelerator facility, residential complexes, two retail squares, and 40 acres of open space.
