King Street Properties broke ground in October of 2022 on the $915 million Allston LabWorks complex in Boston. Designed by DiMella Shaffer, the vibrant life sciences campus will provide 534,000 sf of leading-edge lab and office space across two research buildings. Standing six and eight stories high, the highly efficient structures will feature generous floor-to-floor heights to accommodate sophisticated instrumentation. Spanning 585,000 sf on 4.3 acres, the mixed-use development will incorporate a 12,000-sf public plaza, 20,000 sf of ground-floor retail, and 5,000 sf of open space. The complex will also include the Learning Lab, run by MIT’s BioBuilder Educational Foundation, to help students unlock their potential as life science innovators. An all-electric residential building will offer 35 multifamily units, 26 percent of which will be designated as affordable housing.

Created in partnership with Brookfield Properties and Mugar Enterprises, Allston LabWorks is being built by Consigli Construction with BR+A as MEP engineer and Howard Stein Hudson as civil engineer. The sustainably designed project is targeting LEED Gold certification. Occupancy is expected in late 2024.
