Johnson Controls International (JCI) launched OpenBlue Buildings as a Service in April of 2021. Offering a comprehensive portfolio of advanced solutions, the program allows building owners to transfer the full lifecycle risk of operations to Johnson Controls, which can include upfront capital and decision-making processes; responsibility for design, construction, and maintenance; and energy efficiency and emissions management. Through an ongoing OpenBlue Buildings as a Service partnership, JCI ensures a predictable cost of operations while helping customers make and implement decisions that improve a building's total cost of occupancy, energy performance, and carbon profile.
JCI is also partnering with the International WELL Building Institute to promote global application of the WELL Building Standard. The two organizations will work together to advance technology development, outcome-based planning, and best practices to improve the health and safety of building occupants. Johnson Controls will form a Healthy Buildings Center of Excellence as part of its global network of OpenBlue Innovation Centers. JCI is also on track to achieve the WELL Health-Safety Rating at its headquarters facilities in the United States and China by the third quarter of 2021. Additionally, the company is investing in the WELL AP program with a goal of 500 employees achieving the WELL AP credential by the end of the year.
