Arizona State University broke ground in January of 2020 on a $73.5 million digital innovation campus in Mesa. Designed by Holly Street Studio and Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, the 118,000-sf facility will accommodate programs in digital and sensory technology, media arts, experiential design, gaming, and film production for the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Created in partnership with the city of Mesa, the three-story building will provide galleries, theaters, production studios, fabrication labs, flexible classrooms, and a café for approximately 300 students. The collaborative structure will feature an enhanced 3,000-sf immersion suite for the development of augmented and virtual reality technologies, as well as an entrepreneurship hub with leasable space for industry partners. DPR Construction is the construction manager at risk for the project, which is slated for occupancy in spring of 2022.
