Siemens officially launched the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center in May of 2019 in Chengdu, China. Located in the Chengdu High-tech Zone, the facility houses the Smart Manufacturing Center of Excellence, the Smart Manufacturing Professional Lab, the Industry Solutions Research Center, and the Talent Training Platform. Designed as hub of digital transformation for the Chinese manufacturing industry, the project is located adjacent to the company’s Industry Automation Products Manufacturing and Development facility, which acts a base for the company's Industry 4.0 benchmarking operations. Supporting the deployment of innovative software and hardware platforms, the center will support enterprise product design activities as well as offering production planning, engineering, and execution services. The Smart Manufacturing Center of Excellence is part of a $145 million investment that included the creation of the Siemens Industrial Software Global R&D Center in the Chengdu High-tech Zone in 2018.
