San Jose State University Breaks Ground on Interdisciplinary Science Building

San Jose State University broke ground in April of 2019 on the $181 million Interdisciplinary Science Building in San José, Calif. Designed by Flad Architects with Research Facilities Design (RFD) as laboratory design consultant, the eight-story, 161,200-sf facility will provide state-of-the-art teaching and research labs, flexible learning environments, collaboration hubs, and administrative offices. Supporting programs in data and information science, the facility will house the Center for High Performance Computing, as well as providing space for the departments of chemistry and biology. McCarthy Building Companies is the design-build contractor for the project, which is slated for completion in late 2021.
