The University of Houston opened the $145 million Health 2 facility in May of 2018. Designed by Shepley Bulfinch, the nine-story, 300,000-sf project is the university's second health and biosciences building and houses the College of Pharmacy, the Department of Health and Human Performance, the Student Health Services Clinic, and the Primary Care and Behavior Clinics. The collaborative facility provides leading-edge teaching labs, several floors of wet and dry research space, a pharmacy simulation training center, a compounding room, two 200-seat tiered classrooms, study areas, a demonstration kitchen, and a multipurpose student lounge. The project, which broke ground in February of 2016, is physically connected to the existing Health and Biomedical Sciences Building 1 and the Armistead College of Optometry. Research Facilities Design (RFD) was the laboratory design consultant for the facility, which was constructed by Tellepsen Builders.
