Mercer University dedicated the $44 million Spearman C. Godsey Science Center in April of 2018 in Macon, Ga. Designed by Leo A Daly and Hussey Gay Bell to support collaboration and learning in motion, the four-story, 143,410-sf undergraduate facility provides 60 laboratories, 46 offices, seven lecture rooms, classrooms, and breakout spaces. Comprising two wings connected by a commons, the flexible science center includes specialized teaching labs for organic chemistry, infectious diseases, soil and field biology, anatomy and physiology, and molecular and cellular biology. The project also includes a suite for NMR spectrometry, a laser lab, a computational center, a growth room, a cold room, and a tissue culture suite. Ground was broken on the facility in fall of 2016.
