Louisiana State University Opens Engineering Complex

Louisiana State University opened the 410,000-sf Patrick F. Taylor Hall in April of 2018 in Baton Rouge. Housing the College of Engineering, the $114 million project included construction of the 110,000-sf Chemical Engineering Building Addition and renovation of the existing 300,000-sf structure. Designed by Perkins+Will, Taylor Hall is the largest academic building in Louisiana and features a capstone design studio, a driving simulation lab, the Petroleum Engineering Research & Technology Transfer (PERTT) Laboratory, and the MMR Building Information Modeling (BIM) Lab, where students can utilize virtual reality to analyze construction projects. Offering 41,200 sf of collaboration space, the complex provides active learning classrooms, faculty and staff offices, a three-story atrium, a 24-hour student commons, and a 250-seat auditorium. The general contractor for the project was The Lemoine Company.
