Skidmore College broke ground in October of 2018 on the $100 million Center for Integrated Sciences in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Collocating the school's ten science departments in a single location, the 200,000-sf interdisciplinary project will accommodate programs in biology, chemistry, physics, neuroscience, psychology, geoscience, environmental science, mathematics, computer science, and health and exercise science. Comprising 115,000 sf of new construction and 85,000 sf of renovated space, the completed facility will provide 46 research labs, 22 teaching labs, classrooms, meeting rooms, instrumentation suites, offices, and a three-story atrium. The Center for Integrated Sciences will also house the IdeaLab, a maker space where students and faculty can engage in collaborative exploration. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the project, which is slated for completion in September of 2020. The general contractor for the facility is MLB Construction Services
