New York
Cornell Tech opened the first phase of its Roosevelt Island campus in New York in September of 2017. Representing a partnership between Cornell University and Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, the project includes:
- The House, a 26-story, 270,000-sf residence hall designed by Handel Architects as the world's tallest Passivhaus structure
- The Bridge, a seven-story, 235,000-sf incubator facility designed by Weiss/Manfredi to accommodate industry partners
- The Bloomberg Center, a four-story, 160,000-sf academic facility designed by Morphosis to provide collaborative learning environments and open offices
Construction began on the project in June of 2015. Designed as a net-zero building, the Bloomberg Center features a wide range of sustainable building technologies and is expected to attain LEED Platinum. The campus master plan was developed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
