Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will begin construction in January of 2016 on the $28 million Advanced Aerodynamics Laboratory and Wind Tunnel in Daytona Beach, Fla. Located at the school's research park, the 50,000-sf project will support collaborative R&D with industry partners in areas including aviation, engineering, unmanned systems, and advanced materials. The facility will provide laboratories for large article testing, multiscale materials, computational science, space technologies, smart materials, thermal and energy science, radar and communications, and circuits, sensors, and instrumentation. The project will also include a structural health monitoring facility, a composites center, a robotics and autonomous systems facility, and an advanced dynamics and control center. The building will offer 10,000 sf of flexible leased space. Completion is expected in 2017.
