Primus Solutions has been awarded a contract to provide facility operations and maintenance support services to the Department of Homeland Security at Plum Island Animal Disease Center in Orient Point, N.Y. The contract, which has one base year plus four one-year options, is valued at $85 million.
Scientists at the Plum Island Animal Disease Center conduct basic and applied research and diagnostic activities to protect the health of livestock on farms across America from foreign animal disease agents such as foot-and-mouth disease. Under the contract, Primus is responsible for operations and maintenance of infrastructure and research laboratory facilities and systems. Primus will provide support systems and services, including fire and emergency medical operations, grounds and facilities maintenance, operation of multiple vessels that ferry all deliveries to and from Plum Island, vehicle maintenance, fuel deliveries, electrical distribution, IT infrastructure, hazardous materials, audiovisual services, food service operations, and janitorial services. Additional responsibilities includes engineering, work management, quality assurance, health and safety, and environmental programs and services.
