Texoma Medical Center Opens in Denison
Texoma Medical Center opened its $137 million replacement hospital in Denison, Texas, in December of 2009. Designed by HKS of Dallas and built by Brasfield and Gorrie, the eight-story, 370,000-gsf facility provides 252 beds. The hospital includes a 32-bed intensive care unit, a 26-bed emergency room, and a 12-room operating suite.
Southern Illinois University Breaks Ground on Science Complex
Southern Illinois University broke ground in December of 2009 on the 107,884-sf Science Building Complex in Edwardsville. Supported by $78.9 million in state funding, the facility will house teaching and research labs, classrooms, offices, and common areas. The project will also include renovations to the existing 60,000-sf science facility. The Science Building Complex is expected to open in July of 2011.
Miller Children's Hospital Opens Inpatient Pavilion
Miller Children’s Hospital opened its four-story, 124,000-sf inpatient pavilion in December of 2009 in Long Beach, Calif. The $200 million facility houses a state-of-the-art pediatric imaging center, a seven-suite pediatric surgery center, and a neonatal intensive care unit.
University of Arizona Plans Cancer Treatment Center
The University of Arizona is planning to construct a $140 million cancer treatment center in Phoenix. The five-story, 250,000-sf facility will be built on the Phoenix biomedical campus. A temporary facility will open at the site in 2010 with the permanent cancer treatment center reaching completion in 2013.
Syracuse University Opens Green Data Center
Syracuse University opened the $12.4 million Green Data Center in Syracuse, N.Y., in December of 2009. Created in partnership with IBM and the state of New York, the 12,000-sf facility is comprised of 6,000 sf of infrastructure space and 6,000 sf of raised-floor data center space. The Green Data Center features energy-efficient IBM servers and an on-site power generation system for electricity, heating, and cooling.
