University of Pennsylvania Builds Vagelos Laboratory for Energy Science & Technology
The University of Pennsylvania is building the $173.5 million Vagelos Laboratory for Energy Science & Technology in Philadelphia. Designed by Behnisch Architekten, the seven-story, 113,764-sf facility will enable investigators from the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences to discover new solutions for energy generation, storage, and management.
Phase 3 Real Estate Partners Opens Life Sciences Complex
Phase 3 Real Estate Partners and Bain Capital completed construction in February of 2024 on Genesis Marina, a waterfront life sciences campus in Brisbane, Calif. Offering floor plates of up to 42,000 sf, the three-building complex provides over 560,000 rsf of Class A laboratory and office space. Every research suite is equipped with a modular benching system that is pre-plumbed and pre-wired for fast installation and effortless reconfiguration.
Remembering Bill Nothofer
Bill Nothofer, longtime director of marketing, communications, and outreach for TRADELINE, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 28, 2024, following a brief illness. Bill Joined TRADELINE in 2005 and worked closely with all TRADELINE team members on both the conferences and the publication side of the business. We knew Bill as a solid, insightful, strategic thinker and doer, and an enthusiastic contributor to the firm’s communications mission to the facilities planning and design community.
Cal Poly Begins Construction on Jacobsen Animal Health Center
Cal Poly will begin construction in April of 2024 on the Charles and Claire Jacobsen Animal Health Center in San Luis Obispo. Designed by Gensler, the $30 million project will address a growing demand for courses in veterinary medicine and animal agriculture. Clinical environments will be collocated with academic functions to allow students to engage in experiential learning and training. Providing 17,500 sf of program space, the state-of-the-art building will offer wet labs, examination and procedure rooms, a surgical suite, and a necropsy facility.
Siemens Plans Rail Research & Manufacturing Hub
Siemens Mobility is planning to construct a £100 million innovation center for rail infrastructure in Chippenham. Featuring world-class R&D labs for the discovery of novel travel solutions, the digitally enabled complex will produce the next generation of signaling and control systems for the United Kingdom. Open office areas designed to support hybrid working will be accompanied by sophisticated meeting rooms and collaboration spaces.
