Hybrigen Doubles Dallas Facilities
Hybrigen Inc., a Dallas drug-targeting company, doubled its biotechnology facility's space to 8,000-sf in May. Hybrigen is one of several biotech-related companies located in Dallas' Stemmons Corridor area.
Bayer Diagnostic Negotiates East Bay Expansion
Bayer Diagnostic, a separate entity within the German pharmaceutical firm, is negotiating occupation of 70,000 sf in a yet-to-be built biotech laboratory and office building in Berkeley. The two-story facility, slated for completion in mid-2002, will be developed by Wareham Development of San Rafael, Ca. HKA Architects has been selected for the exterior drawings, with Darrell de Tienne providing conceptual design.
Tularik Builds Dallas Lab
Tularik Texas, a subsidiary of South San Francisco-based biotech firm Tularik, is leasing and building out a laboratory space in Dallas. The 2,300-sf facility will focus on anti-fungal and anti-bacterial drug development and is due to open in September.
Microsoft Opens Silicon Valley Technology Center
Redmond, Wa.-based Microsoft has opened the new 26,000-sf Silicon Valley Technology Center in Mountain View, Ca., a 10-lab facility enabling businesses to try the company's suite of enterprise software prior to purchasing.
Horizon Blue Cross Establishes Second Headquarters
Newark-based Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield has leased 87,460 sf in Mount Laurel for consolidation and expansion of its presence in South Jersey. Employee relocation and closure of the Philadelphia and Evesham offices were scheduled for late June. The facility, which will employ more than 400 people, will act as a secondary headquarters for the state's largest health insurer. Horizon has signed a 15-year lease for the $11 million office, built by Boston-based Leggat McCall Properties.
