Duke Energy To Build Charlotte Office Tower
Duke Energy Corp. is planning to develop one of Charlotte's tallest office towers, possibly standing over 40 floors. Costing up to $200 million and encompassing up to 1,000,000 sf, the uptown tower may be formally announced in August. Additional tenants may lease a significant amount of square footage in the building.
Bechtel Power Expands Frederick Campus
Bechtel Power has occupied a fifth structure at the Westview Corporate Campus in Frederick, Md. Now totalling 450,000 sf, Bechtel Power's international headquarters has grown with the addition of the new 123,000-sf building housing training, demo and research labs and offices. Bechtel is based in San Francisco.
New IMF Headquarters in Washington
The International Monetary Fund will be occupying a second headquarters building adjacent to its current location on Pennsylvania Ave. NW in Washington. Developed by Washington-based Carramerica Urban Development,a subsidiaryof Carramerica Realty, the project will be designed by architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners. Pending zoning approval, construction will begin in late 2002 with occupancy slated for December 2005.
Laney College Houses New Technology Center
Laney College in Oakland, Ca., has transformed its vocational courses facility into a $2.5-million high-tech training center. Originally built in the 1970's, Building E houses the 6,000-sf New Technology Center designed by architectural firm Ratcliff of Emeryville. The center was completed in February and includes two 43-workstation specialized multimedia labs, a networking lab, two round-the-clock workstation laboratory classrooms, a conference room and offices.
Indiana Heart Hospital Breaks Ground
The Indiana Heart Hospital has awarded RTKL Associates Inc. the design contract for its 200,000-sf freestanding facility in Indianapolis. The specialty-care hospital will offer heart services ranging from wellness screenings to open heart surgery.
