PeopleSoft plans to expand its headquarters at Hacienda Business Park pending approvals from the city of Pleasanton. The company’s existing 815,000-sf complex would be supplemented with a new 181,000-sf, five-story office structure on a vacant parcel owned by PeopleSoft across the street. It is anticipated that the building, which would accommodate approximately 800 people, would cost nearly $30-million, and would reach completion in fall of 2003.

Bothell, Wash.-based Allied Telesyn Networks Inc. is looking to permanently occupy a 300,000-sf facility in Raleigh to allow expansion of its research and development operations. Funded by $10 million from its Japanese sister company Allied Telesis, the producer of Internet related hardware and software intends to form a new data networks integration center. Allied Telesyn plans to add 60 employees including new researchers designing networking hardware and software.

San Diego State University has contracted Steinberg Group of Los Angeles to design a 2000-unit, 6,000-student sorority housing project. Located on 1.56-acres, Sorority Row will accompany SDSU's current fraternity housing project in an effort to decrease traffic congestion and increase parking inventory, as underground parking for the housing developments frees up spaces in SDSU parking garages. Construction is slated to begin in 2002 with occupancy estimated for the summer of 2004.

Dartmouth College has selected Cambridge, Mass.-based Bruner/Cott & Associates Inc. and Moore Ruble Yudell Architects & Planners of Santa Monica, Calif., to plan and design a major expansion of their Hanover, N.H. campus. Slated for completion in 2004, the project features a new mathematics hall, a dining hall, and dormitory facilities for 500 to 600 students.

South Jersey Health System began construction in December 2001 on its new Regional Medical Center. The 238-bed, 405,000-sf hospital will house an enhanced emergency department, a Level II neonatal nursery, and specialized cardiac services. Each floor of the four-story hospital will focus on a different program. Services for mothers and babies will occupy the ground floor, with surgical patients on the second floor, medicine on the third and cardiology on the fourth. Rooms are all private and feature critical care monitoring technology.
