Reid Hospital Opens Richmond Inpatient Tower

Reid Hospital opened its new $318 million inpatient tower in Richmond, Ind., in August of 2008. The 233-bed facility includes an inpatient hospital, an outpatient care center, and a medical office building. The state-of-the-art replacement hospital features healing gardens and is the result of a ten-year planning and construction process.

APPH Breaks Ground on Houston Manufacturing Facility

APPH Houston, a manufacturer of aircraft components, broke ground in August of 2008 on a 62,000-sf facility in Houston. Consolidating manufacturing, cleanroom, welding, and administrative operations, the building is slated for completion in March of 2009. APPH is a subsidiary of BBA Aviation PLC.

Spectrum Health Creates Blodgett Teaching Hospital

Spectrum Health broke ground in August of 2008 on a $98 million expansion of Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids, Mich. The five-story, 140-room teaching hospital will include eight operating rooms and will provide inpatient care. Completion is slated for 2010.

Dartmouth University Builds Life Sciences Building

Dartmouth University is constructing a $93-million life sciences building on its Hanover, N.H., campus. Named the Class of 1978 Life Sciences Center, the 174,000-sf sustainably designed facility broke ground in late fall of 2007 and is slated for completion in March of 2010. The complex will house 30 research labs, six teaching labs, three lecture halls, and two classrooms. Sustainable design features of the project include extensive use of natural light, storm water recycling, and a green roof over the auditorium.

McLaren Health Care Constructs Independence Township Campus

McLaren Health Care is constructing the McLaren Health Care Village in Independence Township, Mich. The first $100 million phase broke ground in July of 2007 and is slated for completion in spring of 2009. The 135,000-sf Clarkston Medical Group building, housing a 17,000-sf ambulatory surgery center, will be accompanied by the 32,000-sf Great Lakes Cancer Institute and a 10-acre healing garden.
