Lahey Hospital's New Clinical Facilities Elevate the Patient Experience

Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC) has completed three construction projects on its Burlington campus that will provide dynamic modalities for the delivery of world-class care. Margulies Perruzzi performed architectural services for all three developments at the tertiary academic medical center, complementing the numerous LHMC facilities that the firm has worked on in the past. Seamlessly integrating advanced technology with human-centric design, these capital initiatives are defining an environment engineered for optimal therapeutic impact. Innovative clinical layouts that support the needs of both patients and medical practitioners are enhanced by inviting public spaces filled with natural light.

Leveraging a unique engineering solution, a 3,141-sf addition was created for the hospital’s third electrophysiology lab. A new structural system was installed adjacent to the other electrophysiology labs on a fifth-floor courtyard roof, which could then support four 25,000-pound modular units. Walsh Brothers acted as construction manager with CMTA as MEP engineer; Souza, True & Partners as structural engineer; Gale Associates as exterior envelope consultant; and Colliers Project Leaders as owner's project manager.

The 1,200-sf Neurointerventional Radiology (NIR) room was also renovated to address new equipment requirements. BOND was the general contractor with CMTA as MEP engineer; Souza, True & Partners as structural engineer; and Colliers Project Leaders as owner's project manager.

Lastly, an existing 3,700-sf endoscopy center was transformed into the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic to accommodate increasing patient demand, research activities, and clinical trials. BOND delivered the project with CMTA as MEP engineer.
