Vincennes University broke ground in February of 2024 on the $34 million Center for Health Sciences and Active Learning. Representing the largest capital project in the school’s history, the 72,000-sf facility will feature multidisciplinary teaching labs for programs in nursing and allied health professions. Clinical simulation suites with high-fidelity manikins and virtual technologies will allow the next generation of caregivers to engage in hands-on training. Providing faculty, staff, and administrative offices, the two-story structure will also house the Center for Active Learning where flexible instructional venues will support a progressive pedagogy of collaborative, team-based education. Numerous lounges, breakout spaces, and study areas will foster interaction between students and faculty.

Envisioned as a central campus destination, the highly accessible building will be framed by a welcoming outdoor plaza. Abundant glazing will transmit natural light throughout the sustainable development, which is slated for occupancy in fall of 2025. Empire Contractors is the construction manager for the project with Lynch, Harrison & Brumleve as structural engineer and Heinz Associates as mechanical engineer.
