The University of Alabama in Huntsville broke ground on the $63 million Raymond B. Jones Engineering Building in April of 2023. Providing the College of Engineering with world-class teaching and research venues, the 80,000-sf facility will equip students with the vital skills needed to participate in the state’s aerospace, biotechnology, and manufacturing industries. Collaborative learning environments will enhance knowledge exchange while offering unique opportunities for hands-on training. The high-performance structure will also include classrooms, informal interaction areas, and workspaces for faculty and staff.
The project will replace the existing Werner von Braun Research Hall, a building constructed in 1964. The existing Engineering Building will be renovated in a planned second phase of construction to create an integrated complex for STEM education and discovery.
