Galveston College is constructing the $34 million Health Sciences Education Center to provide leading-edge facilities for its nursing and allied health programs. Designed by PBK Architects, the 64,000-sf building will include sophisticated classrooms, interactive lecture halls, teaching labs, simulation suites, faculty offices, and study spaces. Offering unique opportunities for experiential learning, the three-story project will feature specialized training venues such as surgical technology labs, emergency medical services labs, and radiography rooms with X-ray machines. A parking structure will be located under a portion of the building, which will be elevated to mitigate climate risk and comply with current flood regulations. Occupancy is expected in fall of 2023.
