The University of New Mexico broke ground in August of 2022 on the $43.3 million College of Nursing and Public Heath Excellence Building in Albuquerque. Designed by Dekker/Perich/Sabatini, the 93,740-gsf facility will provide sophisticated classrooms and teaching labs where the next generation of caregivers and public health professionals can engage in collaborative learning, training, and discovery. With enrollment in these programs expected to double over the next six years, the three-story structure will consolidate activities currently dispersed in ten separate locations while providing much-needed space for expansion. Leveraging internal glazing to put science on display, the project will feature a wet lab on the second floor where passersby can view the exciting research occurring within.
Enterprise Builders is the general contractor for the development, which will also house study areas, community health hubs, and offices for faculty and staff. Completion is expected in 2024.
