Missouri University of Science and Technology is constructing the $37 million Innovation Lab in Rolla. Enhancing the recruitment and retention of first-year students, the 50,000-sf facility will feature maker spaces, idea labs, active-learning classrooms, and specialized environments for augmented and virtual reality technologies. The highly transparent structure will offer collaboration venues of various sizes to promote experiential education and entrepreneurship. Housing the Student Success Center and the Writing Center, the sustainably designed building will also provide open study zones, a lounge, a coffee shop, and a spacious lobby.

Anchoring Missouri S&T's new Arrival District, the flexible facility is designed to adapt to changing educational paradigms and uses over time. Ground was broken on the interdisciplinary project in April of 2022 and occupancy is expected in fall of 2023. A $7.7 million geothermal plant will also be constructed to support the Innovation Lab.
